Fundraising magic by the Lambeg Players group
LOCAL drama group Lambeg Players enjoyed a hugely successful run with their pantomime Aladdin in the Island Hall at the beginning of January.
With all five shows virtual sell-outs, local charities raised much needed funds for a variety of causes including, Lisburn Cathedral Building Fund, Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Oasis Village Orphanage in Zambia, Brookmount Dance Ranch, Praxis Care, Magheragall Church Lads’ Brigade & Church Girls’ Brigade, Mitre Trust, Ballymacash Scout Group, St. Colman’s Parish Church,Lagan Valley Rotary Club and Masonic Widows’ Charity.
An exit collection on the Friday and Saturday night shows again demonstrated the generosity of local theatre goers with almost £1,000 being raised for Lupus UK and Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
Lambeg Players’ business manager, Henry Brown said: “This was a very successful run for us as we got packed houses to perform to and the amounts raised for the various charities and organisations brings the total realised by our productions to almost £90,000.”
The group will be presenting the evergreen Yorkshire comedy ‘When We Are Married’ by J B Priestly later in the year and this will be directed by the multi-award winning Wilfie Pyper.
