WORK is now well underway to create Europe’s first ever Habitat ReStore, which will be opening in a few weeks time at the Riverside Centre in Lisburn.

Last week a team of 42 young people travelled from Wesley College in Dublin to lend a hand revamping the store.

Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland are just weeks away from launching the first Habitat ReStore in Europe, a low-cost DIY store with a difference.

The Habitat ReStore, selling new and used building and home improvement materials, will help delivering a more sustainable Northern Ireland and raise funds to build homes around the world.

ReStore will be filled with new and used sock donated by organisations and individuals who want to help improve their community, the environment and the lives of families in need.

All stock will be sold at 50-75% lower than normal retail price, so shopping at the ReStore has real benefits for local families - giving people a new opportunity to improve their homes for less.

Habitat NI’s commitment to building a shared future is defined by bringing together thousands of volunteers and for more than 18 years has been a catalyst in breaking down barriers, building social cohesion and new relationships across communities.

The ReStore will provide plenty of new volunteer opportunities and it will also provide a platform for companies to demonstrate their commitment to reducing landfill waste. Habitat NI is helping families in need around the world build their own way out of poverty every day. Safe, healthy homes provide a solid foundation on which other critical services – including health care, nutrition and education - can be built. The ReStore will help raise essential funds to support more communities.

The ReStore will open at the Riverside Centre, Lisburn next month and Habitat hopes that support from local companies will build on huge success in the US.

Jenny Williams, Habitat’s Chief Executive said: “Habitat ReStores are a big success across the US raising more than $80 million to support Habitat’s work. It’s a real win win for local companies and for local people. When you shop, donate or volunteer at the ReStore you can help build hope around the world.”

If your company would like to donate or get involved Niall McConkey, ReStore Manager will be delighted to hear from you on 07740-180874.
