Local school shares good practice

FOLLOWING its recent Outstanding Inspection Report, Dunmurry Primary School has been asked by the Department of Education and the Education and Training Inspectorate to share their practice with other primary schools across Northern Ireland.

The pupils and staff have welcomed a number of Principals and teachers to see the school in action and all have commented on the warmth of their welcome and left with a very positive impression of the school. More recently, ESAGs TV, the Department of Education’s online video channel, visited the school to film the first of a number of short videos focusing on specific areas of the school’s work.

The initial video looked at Dunmurry Primary School’s effective development of middle managers (Subject Coordinators) and the many benefits to pupils as a result of this. Mrs Jane Karney, School Principal and Miss Irene Edgar, PE & ICT Coordinator were subsequently asked to speak to over 150 school principals at conferences in Belfast and Cookstown. The video clip can be found by following the link on the school’s homepage www.dunmurryprimary.ik.org.
