A new addition to the Balmoral Show this year has received a prestigious award.

The ‘Visit Lisburn’ Marquee located just inside the main entrance was awarded ‘Best Stand not displaying Equipment or Food’ (reserve) by the organisers of the Balmoral Show.

This prestigious Award was accepted by representatives from Lisburn City Council and Lisburn City Centre Management.

The marquee showcased what the City of Lisburn has to offer with a spectacular shopping village highlighting local retailers, visitor attractions and exceptional eating out establishments.

The Lisburn High Street was a highlight for many visitors as they browsed the variety of boutiques and unique independent stores available in Lisburn City Centre.

Chairman of the Council’s Economic Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart said that thousands of show-goers had visited the Lisburn Marquee during the three day event at Balmoral Park.

“The Visit Lisburn Marquee showcased our shops, restaurants and tourist attractions here in the City and I am delighted by the reaction and feedback that we received from the many thousands of people who visited our Marquee.

“To have received a ‘Best Stand’ Award is a real achievement in this our first year having such a Marquee at the Show and I’d like to thank everybody involved in making this venture such a success,” said Mr Ewart.

David McCallum, Chairman of Lisburn City Centre Management said: “The Visit Lisburn Marquee was a fantastic opportunity for local businesses and attractions to show what’s on offer in Lisburn City Centre.

“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in winning this prestigious award at the Balmoral Show. Lisburn City Centre Management was delighted to support this initiative and I hope this will encourage visitors to Lisburn in the months ahead.”

Lisburn City Council and Lisburn City Centre Management warmly welcomed the arrival of the Balmoral Show last week.

Now in its second year in the City of Lisburn, Ireland’s biggest and best Agricultural show did not disappoint as crowds flocked to Balmoral Park in search of a great day out.
