Lisburn men sign up to lead Royal Irish Rifles

As well as the hundreds of men who answered the call in Lisburn and the surrounding towns and villages, many officers were enlisted from Lisburn.

The Commanding Officer of A Company of the Royal Irish Rifles (South Antrim Volunteers), Major A P Jenkins was from Lisburn.

He was wounded at the Battle of the Somme and taken prisoner by the Germans.
