Killultagh ladies meet Lady Mayor

Killultagh WI Christmas outing this year was completely different from any other year.

The group had received an invite from the Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Margaret Tolerton for supper in the Mayor’s Parlour.

When the ladies arrived, they were made welcome and brought up to The Cherry Room where they were served a delicious supper.

The Mayor then showed the ladies up into the Council Chambers, where she told everyone about the history of Lisburn, and also the workings of Lisburn City Council.

Each Mayor for their term in office supports a charity and she has chosen The Diabetic Unit in Lagan Valley Hospital as she herself is diabetic since the age of seven and knows the staff and the work that they do.

She is the fourth Lady Mayor and the last as in 2015 Lisburn City Council is to amalgamate with Castlereagh.

The ladies then were served tea and tray bakes. Birthday girl was Elizabeth Halliday, and we then drew the Ballots for many varied prizes. A very informative evening and enjoyed by all.
