A 45-ft stretch of safety barrier at the Moira roundabout was damaged when a car crashed just before Christmas.

It has been reported that at approximately 9.15pm on Sunday December 22, a car veered off the roundabout, crashed through safety barrier and ended up in the trees at the centre of the roundabout.

A police spokesperson said: “Police attended the scene of a one vehicle, damage only road traffic collision on December 22 at approximately 9.15pm.

“No-one was injured in the accident which occurred at the Moira Road roundabout.

“However one male was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of a suspected medical condition, believed not to be as a result of the accident,” she added.

Lisburn Council Candidate for the Alexander Redpath commented on the accident.

“Our thoughts and prayers must be with the victim and their family during this incredibly difficult time. I wish them a speedy recovery.

“I have been in touch with the Road Service regarding the repair of the barrier and hope that this can be completely quickly to promote the safety of road users.”
