A Lisburn mission trip to South Sudan was recently cancelled.

The cancellation followed renewed violence on the streets of the capital Juba and other parts of the country.

An announcement that the immiment visit to Yei, by members of the Lisburn Cathedral Mission Experience Team Abroad, was not to go ahead, came with an appeal for people to pray for South Sudan.

One of the seven Lisburn Cathedral team-members, Billy Smyth, was already in Yei with his wife, Jenny and family, who were due to return home on Saturday; Billy had planned to stay on to join the Cathedral team.

Connor Diocese has a longterm partnership with Yei and several teams have visited in recent years.
