PSNI Bangor and PSNI Craigavon have been battling each other with ‘banter posts’ on the social media website recently to see who has the funniest and now Lisburn District have stepped up.

Police in Craigavon mocked that the Bangor district has “more Ice cream parlours per capita” while Bangor hit back claiming that Craigavon seem to have an “Inferiority complex.”

Lisburn PSNI’s banter however, took a much more royal approach, they posted: “We’ve become aware that our colleagues in Bangor and Craigavon have declared a Facebook ‘banter war’ and we have had a few messages suggesting we join in. I’m sure you’ll agree that here in Lisburn and Castlereagh, we’re above that kind of thing. I mean, I don’t see Her Majesty The Queen staying in any other district when she visits Northern Ireland. So we’ll just stick with letting you know what’s going on in the finest district in the PSNI.”

Ouch, that’s certainly going to get them noticed in this banter war. Most recently this battle took to the high seas with Bangor first boasting about their fancy yacht. They posted: “When I’m not taking the yacht out for an afternoon spin in the marina or dictating a post for Jeeves to put online, we are dealing with one of the highest call rates in the province.”

This post was quickly sunk by Craigavon’s PSNI ‘bucky bomb’s’- as they replied: “Did you see the shape of their yacht?! We’d take that no bother. Unleash the Bucky Bombs! We’re heading into some good weather towards the end of the week, and we all know what that means, taps aff, Bucky out!”

It’s clear that this banter war is only getting started.
