Crumlin man exposed himself

An Army corporal told the police his penis 'must have fallen out of his shorts' when he exposed himself to three women in Crumlin.

Jason Richardson (30) of Wessex Close, Crumlin, who had a blemish free army career, made the claims during police questioning but then pleaded guilty to three counts of exposure.

At Antrim Magistrates Court last Tuesday, a prosecuting lawyer said each incident, on January 4, February 8 and August 8 last year, were almost identical.

He would stop females walking alone then ask for directions to the airport.

The first two happened on the Mill Road during the day. One of his victims told him simply to ‘put it away.’

The women were able to give cops a description of the flasher, the second woman managed to get the car’s registration number.

After the third incident on the Poplar Road last August, police managed to question the corporal.

At first Richardson admitted being in the areas at the time of the incidents but denied exposing himself.

In one incident Richardson claimed when he got home he realised his shorts were open so his penis “must have fallen out.”

Defence barrister Neil Moore said Richardson has a 13 year career with the army and had completed tours of duty to Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan, working in the postal department.

Mr Moore said the army helped Richardson get counselling to ensure “these offences never happen again.”

He said Richardson was deeply remorseful and that his wife had taken herself and their child back to England.

He was given a two year probation order 120 hours of Community Service, District Judge Alan White also ordered Richardson to pay each victim £250 as compensation.

Richardson was also ordered to sign the police sex offenders register for five years.
