Keep dancing... Via Wings does Strictly to help fund new building

Via Wings are holding a Strictly Come Dancing event in the Bannville House Hotel in Banbridge on Saturday November 5 in memory of their dear friend, volunteer and Board Member Mary Bradley Verhoeven, who sadly passed away tragically in 2014.

Mary was very passionate for the work that Via Wings does in Dromore and the surrounding community, and she strived to see lives touched by the love and compassion shown by Via Wings.

As a former banker Mary hated to see the weekly rent go out of the account and it was her dream to see Via Wings purchase a building which they would own.

Mary was a lover of glitz and glam and what better event to hold in her memory that the very glamorous Strictly Come Dancing, and it’s only appropriate that the money raised go towards helping to fund the refurbishment of Via Wings new home.

Ten couples have been practising for twice a week and now that it is drawing nearer there are more ‘extra’ practises being squeezed into their busy schedules.

The couples are made up of people from the local community who support Via Wings but are unable to volunteer in other ways due to hectic lifestyles. In memory of his mum, Peter Verhoeven and his cousin Susanne Bradley will be the first couple to waltz onto the dance floor on the evening.

Each couple will be judged on the evening for their dancing efforts but they have also had to raise money along the way to help them win the title of Via Wings Strictly Come Dancing Champions 2016.
