Homeowners in LIsburn warned about email scam

Land & Property Services (LPS), which is responsible for collecting rates is urging householders to be on their guard against bogus emails.

The warning follows several incidents where ratepayers received an email seeking bank details.

The mail had a UK mainland address and an 0800 telephone number from the address, [email protected], asking them to pay a specified amount by direct debit.

A spokesperson said: “When LPS staff contact you, by phone, mail, email or in person, they will ask you to confirm security information in relation to your account.”
