An engineer was fined £215 and banned from driving for six months at Magherafelt Magistrates Court for having no insurance.

Eunan McFeely, of Foreglen Road, Claudy, was stopped driving a white Mercedes car at Broad Street in Magherafelt town centre on May 11, the court heard.

A defence lawyer said McFeely made the “ill advised decision” to drive a car he did not have insurance for.

He pointed out that the defendant did have his own insurance to drive and had co-operated fully with the police officer on being stopped.
