Police investigating two burglaries that occurred in the Milltown Avenue area of Derriaghy in the early hours of Wednesday, November 23 have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

At approximately 2:30am, one house was entered and a number of items including a mobile phone, two tablets and a set of car keys were taken. The thieves then made off in the householder’s Vauxhall Insignia car.

A few minutes later it is believed that another house in the street was broken into and a child’s jewellery box was taken.

Constable Martin commented: “It is believed that two or three male youths were involved in these incidents. They are believed to have made their way to the area in a Vauxhall Corsa which was earlier stolen from the Gipsy Street area of South Belfast.

“I would ask anyone with any information about these incidents to contact Lisburn Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 71 of 23/11/16. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
