Lisburn residents are being offered home composters for £7 each as the city council marks Compost Awareness Week (May 2-9).

Residents who recycle items at the council centres at Derriaghy, Carryduff and Drumlough during Compost Week will receive one free bag of compost.

Through its Facebook page the council is running a competition around how residents use their brown kitchen caddy, with the chance to win family passes to the LeisurePlex and Dundonald Ice Bowl.

For more on recycling, waste management or to get a free kitchen caddy starter kit call 028 9250 9453 or log onto www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/resident/bins-recycling.
