A LISBURN childminder has dropped four and a half stones and has reached her target weight with the help of Slimming World.

Lyndsey Reid, 31, began her weight loss journey in August 2011 and is now a healthy size 12. She had struggled with her weight for year and had tried numerous diets but had very little success.

It was when she met a friend who she hadn’t seen in a while, and was amazed at her weight loss that Lyndsey decided she had to do something. Her friend told her about Slimming World and it wasn’t long before Lyndsey decided to check out her local group.

The Slimming World consultant explained how the programme worked and it wasn’t long before Lyndsey started shedding the pounds. 16 months on and Lyndsey is still a target member and attends a group at Tonagh Primary School every Monday at 7.30pm.

“I’m now a size 12 which I never thought I would be, I have more energy than I have ever had and my confidence has soared. I’m like a new woman. I can enjoy my usual foods like curries, chilli’s, fully cooked breakfasts and even chocolate. Ihave just learned to prepare my meals healthier and use healthier ingredients,” explained Lyndsey.

Last November Lyndsey was crowned her group’s Miss Slinky. Her fellow members voted for her as they felt she had done so well.

“Being crowned Miss Slinky was amazing”, said Lyndsey. “I felt so proud and honoured that all my fellow members had voted for me. The support from my friends and my consultant has been excellent and I couldn’t have achieved my goals without them. Group is the best place for all your support and I never miss a class.

“I love my life. I love my group and I’m looking forward to the coming year were hopefully ewe can help and inspire more potential members.”
