Charity Car Jump

Stoneyford man Colin Ross is set to take on a unique challenge tomorrow (Saturday) for charity.

Colin, the current Irish Downhill Mountain bike champion, will jump over as many cars as possible for the charity Team 338, which raises vital funds for various cancer charities in memory of 16-year-old Callan Mc Erlain.

The event will take place at a Family Fun Day at Hillsborough Elim Church at 1pm.

Team 338 was founded last year after Callan was diagnosed with a rare form of bone and soft tissue cancer, Ewing Sarcoma, and sadly passed away just seven weeks later. As Colin had known Callan through the mountain bike world, he will take on this challenge in memory of the teenager.

Colin said: “I plan to do five or six cars at one go. I will try three or four to start and do a bit of a show, jumping over people lying on the ground firstly.

“People have been sponsoring me per car on my Facebook page and on Saturday we’ll open it up, with the charity coming down so people can donate on the day.

“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather but it looks good for Saturday. It will be fun, but a bit scary, it’s something different.”
