The Resurgam Community Development Trust organised a special event in one of its social enterprises recently to celebrate Social Saturday.

Social Saturday is designed to boost the number of consumers buying from the UK’s 70,000 plus social enterprises - businesses with a social mission that reinvest their profits for the benefit of local people.

In partnership with Workwest, six of The Resurgam Trust’s social enterprises and the South Eastern Social Enterprise Hub showcased their products and displayed their services at the event in The Highway Inn on October 16.

Senior managers were present to meet attendees and discuss the excellent work being conducted within the local social economy sector.

More than 80 members of the local community attended the event and were treated to a free breakfast, kindly supplied by The Highway Inn.

Commenting on the success of the event, The Resurgam Trust Director, Adrian Bird said: “This was an excellent event which not only highlighted everything good about going social but demonstrated the benefits of collaboration and partnership working.

“I would like to thank the management of The Highway Inn for hosting the event, our partners at Workwest and Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Economic Development for their support.”
