Slight rise in Lisburn’s jobless figures

THE number of people registering as out of work rose in Lisburn over the last year.

According to statistics released by the Department of Finance and Personnel the claimant count in the area has gone up by over 10%.

In December a total of 3,544 people claimed unemployment benefit in the city, which was -0.7% less than the previous month.

In Northern Ireland as a whole there are 63,575 people claiming unemployment benefit, 5.5% of the working age population.
