Stores in Lisburn and Moira have made it into the final of Musgrave Retail Partners prestigious ‘Store of the Year Awards’.
Leathem’s Mace in Lisburn and Poole’s SuperValu in Moira will be among those awaiting the results at the gala final in Newcastle’s Slieve Donard Hotel on March 7.
Poole’s are competing for SuperValu’s Store of the Year award.
Leatham’s Longstone Street store, meanwhile, is a finalist in the ‘Under 1500 Sq Ft’ category and is competing for Mace’s Store of the Year award.
Musgrave Retail Partners organises the annual gala ball event for its 250 independent retailers in Northern Ireland across the SuperValu, Centra and Mace brands.
Finalists are selected using an independent audit of all stores, each facing “a rigorous process of checks and evaluations”.
Finalists in each retail brand go head to head on the night with the chance to be crowned Gold, Silver or Bronze winner in each of their categories before competing for the coveted title of ‘Store of the Year’. One store , opened before last October, will take home a ‘Newcomer’ prize
Musgrave Retail Partners SuperValu Sales Director, Nigel Maxwell said of Poole’s achivement: “Congratulations to Eddie, Mena and all the staff at Poole’s SuperValu Moira, which holds the 2013 Store of the Year title.
“Achieving finalist status again this year shows their commitment to customer service and consistent delivery of in-store standards.
“Poole’s has also been very successful in a number of other awards ceremonies.
“This includes winning four awards at the UK Independent Achievers Awards in London in November and we wish them the best of luck on the night.”
Of Leathem’s success, Musgrave Retail Partners Mace Sales Director Trevor Magill said: “I’m delighted that Ricky and his team at Leathem’s Mace Lisburn have reached the finals again this year.
“The store won this category in 2012 and 2013 and it is a fantastic achievement for the owners and staff to be shortlisted again in 2014.
“Leatham’s continues to be recognised year on year as it provides a fantastic service to the local community with staff delivering a top quality service.”
