Bike thief stopped in his tracks

Police put the brakes on a bike theft after they caught a male in the middle of attempting to steal two bikes.

On Monday evening, a CityWatch CCTV operator observed a male acting suspiciously in the Castle Street area of Lisburn.

Posting on their Facebook Citywatch said: “The male then approached two bicycles which had been locked and secured to a signpost.

“The male then produced a hacksaw and proceeded to try and cut his way through the lock.

Police were informed and directed to the male who was then caught red handed. After his details were obtained and confirmed the male was detained and will be reported to the PPS for Attempted Theft, Criminal Damage and Going Equipped.

“This male will now be closely observed in the future to prevent any further offending in the Lisburn area.”
