As part of 90th birthday celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen,Lisburn and Castlereagh Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett, is hosting an Afternoon Tea Party on Monday, June 6, for residents turning 90 or older throughout this year.

The mayor is inviting any resident from the council area who turns 90 or more in 2016to attend the event in the Island Hall at Lagan Valley Island from 2- 4pm on the day.

He said: “We are working with the local Press, local groups, local churches, organisations and nursing homes in the area to spread the word about this very special Afternoon Tea Party to take place on the 6th June for senior citizens who, like the Queen, reach the milestone of 90 years old this year.

“It would be great to hear from those residents who remember the Queen as a young child.

“There will be entertainment by the Swingabellas and old-fashioned afternoon tea served with plenty of good conversation, so that senior citizens can celebrate their 90-plus years of achievement as well as celebrating and discussing those of Her Majesty the Queen.”

Thoise seeking further information on arrangements, including booking, attendance and car-parking or accompaniment, are asked to contact the mayor’s secretary directly on 028 9250 9331.
