Chris joined 15 other excited trekkers from across the Province, including Allyson Morrow, who is also originally from Lisburn, at Belfast City Airport early on Saturday May 3 to set off on their journey.



Having had to raise a minimum of £3, 400 for the charity, Chris has fundraised and trained for a year to prepare for this jungle challenge.The participants will travel through an area containing some of the richest flora in the world and they will trek all the way from sea level to the highest point in South East Asia, the magnificent Mount Kinabalu.

During the challenge Chris will encounter some amazing sights such as the charismatic orang-utan, beautiful river valleys and traditional hill villages before returning home on May 13.



The funds raised from the trek will help Action Cancer to provide many life saving services. Events & PR Officer, Kerry Boyd, commented, "People participate in Action Cancer treks for a number of reasons whether they have been affected by cancer themselves or know someone close to them who have been diagnosed, everyone has the same determination and dedication to raise vitals funds for the charity.

Action Cancer 2009 treks to Thailand and Egypt have just been launched and places are filling up fast. They are also currently recruiting for Cycle Russia, which takes place in September 2008.
