A musical treat for local cinema-goers

THE Omniplex Cinemas treated their cinema-goers to a taste of the West End when they invited local theatre group Fusion Theatre to sing at the premiere of the new blockbuster movie Les Miserables.

Fusion Theatre, who are performing the stage version of Les Miserables at Lisburn’s Island Hall from February 6 until February 9, sang ‘At the End of The Day’ and ‘One Day More’ to fans of the musical just before the film began.

Carole King of Omniplex Cinemas said: “We knew that the people attending the first shows of the film would be huge fans, so we thought we would celebrate the cinema-going experience with a live rendition with songs from the musical.

“The Omniplex Cinemas are delighted to be associated with Fusion Theatre, it is fantastic to see such talented young people within our community.”

The cast, being huge fans of the musical themselves, were very keen to see their famous counterparts on screen and the 80-strong cast organised a night out last Tuesday to see a screening of the show prior to them treading the boards at the Island Hall.

A spokesperson for the group said: “This was a chance for the cast to take a bit of time out from their busy rehearsal schedule to enjoy a great musical evening as a member of the audience. After seeing the film, the cast are determined to make this the best production of Les Miserables they have ever performed.”

Tickets for Fusion’s stage version of Les Miserables (School Edition) can be obtained for the box office on 028 92 509254 or online at www.tickets.lisburncity.gov.uk.
