Can you help Jimmy track down his old classmates from his college days?

A former Lisburn Technical College student who left Northern Ireland more than 40 years ago is hoping Ulster Star readers can help him find some old friends.

James ‘Jimmy’ Hughes (65) is trying to locate several pals he went to the college with back in the early 1970s.

The son of a Royal Air Force serviceman, Belfast-born Jimmy attended various schools in England and Cyprus before returning to Northern Ireland when his father was posted to RAF Aldergrove.

“I finished my schooling at an intermediate school in Glenavy and started an apprenticeship with Michelin tyre company, during which I attended Lisburn Technical College,” he explained. “We were all in the City and Guilds Mechanical Engineering Technicians Course at the college and we finished in 1972.

“In 1973 I terminated my employment at Michelin and moved with my wife and daughter to Germany to live and work,” he added.
