Second multi million pound complex

IN November 1986 a Lisburn politician claimed that an international consortium was behind a bid to open a second multi-million pound shopping complex in the area.

Deputy Mayor, Councillor William Bleakes said the developers had their eyes on a site at Largymore in the Saintfield Road area.

According to the official Unionist stalwart outline planning permission for a 30 bedroom hotel had been granted and the developers were now poised to call for an appeal which could result in approval for a hypermarket on the same site.
