New youth project set for Cathedral

THIS Saturday night, January 19, sees a new Youth Project open in Lisburn Cathedral Hall from 8pm until 10pm.

Aimed at young people from School Year 8 and above, Venue24 offers a wide range of activities for young people to enjoy on a night out.

Each week there will be the opportunity to get involved in Cage Football in the main hall or to play pool and football. There will be a great Video Games Room with four large flat screens to play Guitar Hero, FIFA, Dance Games and much more. There will be music and movie evenings in the cafe as well a variety of different sessions from DJ’ing, Dance, Art with a Purpose, Nail Art and Zumba.

The aim is to give young people a space to have fun with their friends on a Saturday night in the City Centre. The cost for the evening is only £2 and on offer is a first class programme for all young people in the community.

Venue24 is based at Lisburn Cathedral, 24a Castle Street and just one aspect of the Youth Work at the Cathedral.

With the support of the SEELB Youth Service the Youth Work takes the group into Fort Hill College working with Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 classes delivering Romance Academy as part of their Learning for Life and Work. Romance Academy is a UK based charity which delivers Sex and Relationship projects in church, schools and local health boards.

As well as delivering the program in school you can sign up for a 12 week Romance Academy Group, which is run after school or in and evening at the Cathedral and with other agencies.

To find out more about Venue24 you can look up the new Facebook page Venue Twentyfour which will updated with the latest information and events each week.
