‘Ireland: The Road to War and Partition’ at Lisburn Library

LIBRARIES NI presents ‘Ireland: The Road to War and Partition’ in Lisburn City Library, on Thursday, December 6, at 12.30pm.

Everyone is invited to come along to this free lunchtime event in the library during which you will enjoy scenes from early film, from the fight against Home Rule to Partition held on the Digital Film Archive which will be narrated by David Bridges, Information Support Officer with Libraries NI.

The Digital Film Archive is now available for public use and is a free resource for researchers, students, historians and anyone who has an interest in moving images. It contains 55 hours of moving images about Northern Ireland from 1897-2000.

This event may be of particular interest to researchers, historians and to students sitting exams in June 2013, in A2 history modules, Unionism and Nationalism in Ireland 1800-1900 and Partition of Ireland 1900-1925, as well as to anyone who has an interest in moving images.

A select reading list of books on early 20th century Irish history entitled Interpreting our Past, Moving Forward is freely downloadable from the Libraries NI website (www.librariesni.org.uk), on the Local Studies Downpatrick library page.

Admission to this event is free but booking is advisable. Contact Lisburn City Library (Linenhall Street, BT28 1FJ) on telephone: 028 9263 3350 or email lisburncity.library@librariesni.org.uk.
