AN evening of gospel music hosted by Derryvolgie Parish Church attracted a large crowd with more than 300 local people attending the event.

The evening was organised by the Parish Events’ Committee and took place in the church on Sunday, November 18. Among the performers was a 60-strong choir from Harmony Hill Primary School, and well-known local musicians Graham Murphy and Des McVeigh.

Singers from the parish also played their part in what was a very successful evening.

Rector Rev Stephen McElhinney said: “The evening was intended to reach out to the local community and a large number of those who came along had never been in the church before. The evening raised £800 which will be used to further the work of the church.”
