LISBURN Racquets Club has been selected as one of 42 venues across Northern Ireland to host next year’s World Police and Fire Games.

One of the largest multi-sport events in the world, it is commonly referred to as the ‘Olympics’ for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers.

From 1st-10th August 2013 up to 10,000 participants from over 70 countries will be competing in a vast range of sports from beach volleyball to rugby.

Lisburn Racquets Club will be hosting badminton and volleyball.

A number of international teams have been sending advance parties to visit Northern Ireland to check out sports facilities and accommodation.

Holland is the latest country to send representatives and with their keen interest in badminton they were delighted to be able to visit Lisburn Racquets Club, officially known as the National Badminton Centre. A total of 135 competitors are expected to travel from Holland to participate in the Games.
