Tough task for Armagh
Following their comfortable win against an ordinary Westmeath team last time out, Paddy O’Rourke’s side will need another confidence building win before they face Down in Newry next Sunday week.
Despite losing to Meath on the opening day of the season, the former Ulster champions gave a good account of themselves. With the new manager encouraging a more attacking mindset, scores have been flowing from several sources.

Hide AdFinnian Moriarty’s move to a half-back position has freed the Wolfe Tones man to attack more, leading to the ‘Cash man’s goal against Westmeath but it is Steven McDonnell, who hit 1-9 from play against the Lakesiders, who remains the Orchard’s main attacking threat.
Armagh have it all to do next Saturday night. Laois will have their Portlaoise players back following their All-Ireland Club championship exit.
Although promotion remains a distinct option for the county team, Paddy O’Rourke’s main focus at this time will be to build a settled side for Armagh’s first round game against Derry in Celtic Park.
