A solicitor explained that his client would not have been in court only for the anger of the Libyan leader. The 30 year old defendant had been working with a group of men in Libya. Unfortunately by accident they cut off the electricity supply to the presidential palace. That didn’t go down too well with Gadaffi and he ordered the group to be expelled from the country. This meant that the Lurgan man’s contract ended months before it should have. Back home he secured a job as a labourer with a Belfast firm and after work one night he called into a bar for a drink. On his way home he was noticed driving at 65mph in a restricted area at Dollingstown. Police stopped him and arrested him for drunken driving. In court he was fined £50 and banned from driving for 12 months.
