Ballyclare golfers open up a four-point lead

Ballyclare Golf Club ‘A’ sit four points clear at the top of the Larne and District Snooker League after they recorded their 18th win of the season with a 3-2 success against Greenbank B.

J McKay, Stevie Higgins and Tommy Bamber won their frames with Stevie Nelson and William McNeeley winning for the Carrick men.

The Point are second after beating Greenbank ‘A’ 3-2 in Carrick. A McKee, Graham Ferguson and Gary McNeill won the first three frames with Davy Douglas (31) and Wayne Harper winning the last two for Greenbank.

St Comgall’s sit a point further back after their 17th victory of the campaign with a close 3-2 win at Ballylumford. Shaun McAlister (22), Dean McDonagh and Gary Johnston all won with Darren McNeill and Phillip Haveron taking a frame each for the home side.

Latharna are a further point behind having had their bye week.

Q-Club A had the win of the week and are closing the gap on the pack with a fine 5-0 win against Ballyclare GC B. Michael Kane pocketed a fine 61 clearance, and there were also wins for Ryan McKillop, Andy Lilly, Lee Topping and K Hylands. Elsewhere, Carrick A, Carrick B and Linfield all picked up 3-2 wins.

Three Man Team

Q-Club will play Ballyclare Old Boys on Tuesday, April 7 and Ballyclare ‘C’ will play Greenbank ‘A’ on Thursday, April 9. Both matches in Latharna Club at 7,30 pm. The final will be played on Tuesday, April 14.
