Planning underway for enhanced park and ride facility at Moira
A four-week programme of public consultation runs until Friday March 5, with a public webinar taking place on February, 24.
It is hoped that planning approval will be granted in the coming months for an enhanced facility to meet current and future parking demand at this important site

Hide AdAidan Stott, Translink’s Programme Manager for the project, said: “This will be a major project, providing much-needed additional capacity at one of Translink’s best used passenger facilities.
“Park and Ride is a key component of Translink’s plans for a ‘green recovery’ as we build back from COVID-19, helping to reduce congestion and developing safer, healthier communities.
“This project at Moira will be a much-needed enhancement to the existing Park and Ride facilities.
“It will provide a safe and secure facility with disabled parking, CCTV and security lighting, as well as cycle shelter provision.

Hide Ad“The project will meet the highest environmental standards, in line with Translink’s commitment to protect and enhance the landscape.
“We plan to submit the formal planning application during the spring, with the hope that planning approval will be granted shortly thereafter, which would allow works to get underway a few months later, with work completing in 2023.”
Alderman Jim Dillon MBE, Development Committee Chairman, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, said: “The Park and Ride facility will offer local residents flexibility to travel to work and the local shops while easing congestion in the council area.”
