Suzanne Higgot is a curator at the Wallace Collection, a national museum in London which displays works of art collected in the 18th and 19th centuries by the first four Marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace, the son of the 4th Marquess.
It was bequeathed by Sir Richard’s widow, Lady Wallace, in 1897. A number of paintings, collections and artifacts that belonged to Sir Richard Wallace are also housed in the museum.
Sir Richard was MP for Lisburn from 1873 to 1884. He paid for the building of Assembly Rooms, the old court house and a school, now Wallace High. Suzanne was taken on a tour to Wallace Park, Wallace Memorial and Castle House.
“Sir Richard Wallace is synonymous with Lisburn and the Irish Linen Centre was pleased to assist on this project as the staff have such local knowledge,” the Mayor said.
