£1.7m DALRIADA PROJECT BEGINS
The project which is fully funded through the Department of Education’s Schools Enhancement scheme will provide Dalriada with a number of up to date facilities.
They include a new gymnasium, new toilets, changing and showering facilities, a state of the art Fitness and Well-Being suite along with a classroom for the Physical Education Department and the refurbishment of the current sports hall which was built in 1979. The £1.7 million project has been made possible through Dalriada’s successful application to the Department of Education Schools Enhancement Programme. To date over thirty schools have benefitted from this programme, including the neighbouring Ballymoney High School.

Headmaster Tom Skelton commented: “It is good to see the project taking shape and the pupils are excited by the prospect of new facilities to add to our current provision.
“The new development will ensure that Dalriada continues to build upon the extensive range of activities and experiences open to our current pupils and hopefully many generations to come.”
The building project is scheduled to be completed by Autumn 2016 with early work focussing upon the provision of temporary facilities to accommodate the on-going activities and classes at the school and demolition of the changing rooms, office and annexe.
