Pigeon fancier Geordie passes away
George, (or Geordie as he was affectionately known), died on Friday, November 21; he was the dearly loved husband of Gladys.
Brought up in Knocknagore, Geordie was one of eight siblings. He was married to Gladys on December 29, 60 years ago.

Hide AdAfter leaving school he worked as a farmhand with Sam Nelson and laboured with Calvert’s Building Contractors before going to work with the Richardson Family at Moyallon. He was later employed by the DOE Roads Service.
A keen pigeon fancier he recorded many wins with his pigeons.
A staunch loyalist, he was identified with Ballymacanallen LOL 2013 and a Sir Knight of King Solomon’s Golden Knights RBP 119 Laurencetown.
A member of Scarva Presbyterian Church he is survived by his wife, son Henry and six grandchildren Sonia, Louise, Tracy, Michael, Adam and Chloe.

Hide AdThe funeral took place on Sunday, November 23 from his home to Scarva Presbyterian Church. Among the hymns were ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd,’ ‘Abide With Me’ and ‘Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah’ were sung when Mrs. McCullough presided at the organ. Rev. Patricia McBride give an inspiring address of George’s life.
The interment took place in the adjoining churchyard and the Rev. McBride officiated at the home, church and graveside. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Scarva Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
