With cookery workshops, craft activities and even African drumming, never mind home schooling and working from home being the norm. Due to current lockdown restrictions all activities are taking place online. For the children there is the fortnightly online Children’s club occurring on Saturday mornings from 10.30am with a range of activities for those aged 6–11 years. For those a little older and for adults, the Hale & Hearty weekly programme on Tuesday evenings explores a range of topics, providing workshops and online activities from a range of facilitators, all promoting physical and mental health and wellbeing. Activities include physical exercise classes, creating healthy meals, crafts, and health and well-being workshops. A four-week traditional foods cookery course is running for adults where the participants are learning new cookery skills, while enjoying the course and having a chat with new friends online. For those interested in local history, there is a series of online history and heritage talks, occurring fortnightly on a Monday evening from 8pm-9.30pm. The next speaker on March 29 will be Lolly Spence who will provide an interesting view on how the Celtic people of Ireland marked the changing seasons and she will help discover the impact of Christianity on pagan beliefs and ancient fire festivals over the centuries. There is something for everybody to get involved in and locals are urged to take part in the wide range of activities available.
