Mill Strand win EcoSchools Travel praise
Over a two week period, 36 local schools participated in the Challenge with more than 1,100 pupils monitoring their travel patterns and making an effort to walk, cycle, use the bus or train for the school run.
During the Challenge, there was a massive shift away from car use to sustainable travel.

Hide AdMill Strand Primary School was among the top four performers in Northern Ireland, encouraging pupils and parents to choose more environmentally-friendly transport modes.
At a special prize-giving in Belfast Central Station the school received the the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.
Gordon Milligan, Deputy Chief Executive, Translink, praised everyone involved: “Congratulations to all 36 schools who successfully completed the travel challenge.
“It’s very fitting we hold this event during Bus + Train Week when we are encouraging more people to enjoy the benefits of public transport emphasizing its importance to making the region a place where people want to live, work, visit and live in.”
Ian Humphreys, CEO at Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, said: “Increasing use of greener forms of transport such as bus and train is all part of showing you live here and love here.”
