Masonic Lodge celebrates 200th anniversary
The Grand Master was accompanied on this important occasion by the Assitant Grand Master of Ireland Rt W Brother R McCurley and the provincial Assistant Grand Master of Down Rt W Brother I Boreland.
The Grand Master occupied the Chair and presented the Lodge with its Bi Centenary Certificate and in his address he congratulated the Lodge on its distinguished 200 year history within the province of Down.

Hide AdFollowing the presentation of the Bi-Cenenary Certificate, the Most Worshipful Grand Master then presented a 50 Year Jewel to Brother Walter Kerr (1964 to 2014) and Rt Worshipful Brother Boreland gave an account of Brother Kerr’s Masonic background and his charity work outside Masonry.
Walter together with his late wife Josie set up the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Charity back in 1971.
The charity aimed to raise funds to help advance medical research into kidney disease. To date many millions of pounds has been raised since it was set up by the Kerrs some 43 years ago.
The Assistant Grand Master of Ireland Rt Worshipful Brother McCurley then unveiled a new Past Masters Board in the Lodge Room, he too congratulated the Lodge on reaching this milestone.

Hide AdThe ladies committee of the lodge supplied a meal to all present who then presented the Worshipful Master with a cheque for £2700 which had been raised as part of the events they had organised to celebrate the Bi Centenary year.
The Master thanked the ladies for their continued support of the Lodge and for their most generous donation, this was echoed by the Grand Master and all present.
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests by the Worshipful Master on what was a unique and most enjoyable occasion in the history of Magerally Masonic Lodge.
