“The Very Reverend William Morton, the Dean of Derry Cathedral and were awarded the historic freedom of the City of London in the Chamberlain’s Court by Paul Double CVO, the Remembrancer of the City of London.”
The Freedom is hand written by a calligrapher on parchment and the Dean also presented with the Rules for the Conduct of Life. He was nominated by Sir David Wotton, a former Lord Mayor of London and now Governor of the Irish Society and by Roger Chadwick, the Deputy Governor.
At a celebratory lunch afterwards, Rev Dr Morton offered his sincere gratitude to the Governor, the Deputy Governor and all involved for their kindness and for the support they had and continued to show,
“This is a tremendous privilege,” he said.
