Boys (14) claim to be collecting for charity
The reminder comes following an incident at Pinley Crescent on Monday, 3 September. Police received information about two young boys calling at doors claiming to be collecting for charity. Police attended and spoke to the two 14-year-old boys. They were subsequently arrested and later released on bail pending further enquiries.
Constable Flanigan, Banbridge Response, explained: “Every householder should ask for identification if someone calls to your door unexpectedly, whether they are selling goods or collecting for charity.

Hide Ad“A genuine door to door collector will have a registered charity number, dates and details of any event taking place and the name of the organiser. If you are in doubt or do not feel comfortable, contact police immediately.
“A genuine caller will not mind you taking steps to verify their identity.”
