Council to debate Magherafelt DUP man’s ‘homosexuality should not be legal’ comments
Paul McLean, a councillor in Magherafelt sparked outrage across the country last month, during the controversy surrounding the former Health Minister Jim Wells.
“The biblical perspective speaks against it [homosexuality], and I take the biblical perspective,” Mr McLean told the Irish News.

Homosexuality should not be legal says Magherafelt councillorNext week, Sinn Fein councillor Caoimhe O’Neill will put forward a motion, calling for the DUP man to retract his comments.
“This council notes the positive contribution that the LGBT community make to the Mid Ulster Society,” the motion reads.
“That council acknowledges that this district is a welcome place for everyone regardless of your sexuality or gender.
“This council condemns with deep regret the comments made by Councillor Paul McClean last month in the Irish News and calls on him the retract those comments immediately.”
