Council considering installation of columbarium at Carnmoney Cemetery
At their monthly meeting on Monday, July 7, councillors were informed that there has been “a lot of interest” in siting a columbarium at the cemetery. And they agreed that quotes should be sought for installing one at the site.
Members were advised that initial outlay costs could be recovered through the sale of niches, which could be priced at over £400 each.

Hide AdMajella McAlister, the council’s director of development services, said the pilot project would allow the council to “dip its toe in the water to gauge the level of interest”.
She said that officers would bring back a report on columbarium policy and pricing options to a future meeting.
The council agreed a maximum budget of £10,000 for the pilot project.
