Chairman welcomes support for event
Referring to the D-Day landings, Mr Hamilton said: “Quite a lot of people from here were involved in that. My own regiment, the Ulster Rifles, they landed two battalions in the one day, the only regiment in the British Army to do that, both on 6th June, one by air and one by sea.
“It’s nice to see one of them was able to attend today, John Shanahan. Others were ill and could not make it. But we all hope to get together again towards the end of the month.
“It’s a sad day but it was nice to see people turning up today to remember it.”
