Borough of Coleraine all set for Christmas
The towns of Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart, Garvagh and Kilrea have all received new Christmas Lights this year as part of Coleraine Borough Council’s ‘Festive Lighting Scheme for Winter 2014’.
To reveal the new lights each town will be holding a magical evening of Christmas entertainment and family fun at its ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ with the Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor George Duddy welcoming a very special guest to assist with the switch on Santa Claus!

Hide AdMayor Duddy said: ”The big night for Coleraine town centre will be Friday 28th November when Church Street, The Diamond and Bridge Street will be packed with people and entertainers from 6pm. The Mayor will ride with Santa on his Clydesdale dray and lead a parade of 100 children in a beautiful Christmas costume parade, before welcoming primary school children to his Grotto to receive an early Christmas gift.
“The choir of DH Christie Memorial Primary School will perform a number of carols before live music from ‘This Way Up’ gets the whole town rocking. The group will also be joined by special guests, Elsa and Anna who will be performing their ‘Frozen’ tribute.”
The Borough’s Christmas lights will be switched on as follows: Coleraine: Friday 28th November at 7pm; Portrush: Thursday 4th December at 7.30pm; Portstewart: Friday 5th December at 5.30pm; Kilrea: Saturday 6th December at 5pm; Garvagh: Monday 8th December at 7.30pm; Casterock: Thursday 11th December at 7.30pm; Portballintrae, Saturday 13th December at 4.00pm.
