A lecturer in electrical engineering at Ulster University, Dr. McConville, transformed his study at home into a room he could use to create thousands of pieces of personal protection equipment (PPE). Dr. McConville did this at a time when PPE was hard to come by in Northern Ireland. The PPE created using 3D printers by Dr. McConville was issued to frontline health care workers. Newry and Armagh SDLP MLA, Justin McNulty, described Dr. McNulty as having “his whole life ahead of him”. “So sad and sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Dr Aaron McConville who lived in Tandragee,” said Mr. McNulty. “Aaron was from a well respected family and was Doctor of Engineering and a Lecturer in University of Ulster and he was one of the first to produce PPE for care homes and hospitals. “My sincere sympathies with Aaron’s family, friends, colleagues, students and loved ones who will be totally devastated at the sudden passing of a young man who was already making his mark who’d his whole life ahead of him and was taken way too soon. “God love them all. Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas sioraí dó,” he added. Dr. McConville lived in Tandragee at the time of his death but also had connections with Whiteabbey. Dr. McConville’s Requiem Mass will take place on Friday in St. James’ Church Tandragee at 12 noon.
